County Galway · your position

What is near me

The nearest pharmacy, doctor, supermarket, shop, café, petrol station and bank to where you stand, anywhere in the county: a you-are-here marker on the 3D model, the distance to each, a walking estimate, and a page for every one with its hours and a route on the streets.

Your browser will ask once for your position. It is used only here, in your browser, to pick the nearest town on the map and measure the distances; it is never sent to this site.

Or pick the town

Every settlement has its own pages for each kind of place, closest to the centre first.

Questions people ask

How does the near-me page know where I am?
Your browser asks you once for your position and hands it to the page; the page picks the nearest settlement on the map, loads that settlement's static list of places and measures straight-line distances in your browser. Nothing is sent to this site.
Which places does it show?
The nearest pharmacies, doctors and clinics, supermarkets, shops, cafés and restaurants, petrol stations, banks and places to stay from OpenStreetMap, each linked to its own page with the street, the hours where recorded and directions on the model.
Does it work outside County Galway?
No. The map covers the 62 settlements of County Galway; more than 15 km from any of them the page says so and offers the town list instead.
