Kevin Walsh
The tall midfielder at the heart of Galway's All-Ireland wins of 1998 and 2001 is a Killannin man, from the parish between Rosscahill and Moycullen. Kevin Walsh, born on 5 November 1969, won an intermediate county title with the club in 1991 and another in 2014, at forty-five, against the neighbours from Moycullen, between two spells managing county teams.

Player and manager
Walsh won two All-Irelands and three All-Stars with Galway in the late 1990s and early 2000s and served as a selector with Connacht. He volunteered to manage Sligo and was appointed in November 2008, winning Division 4 and Division 3 in his first two years and the Connacht junior championship. When Alan Mulholland stood down, Walsh was appointed Galway senior manager in September 2014 and stepped down on 3 September 2019 after five seasons; Pádraic Joyce succeeded him. In November 2022 he became coach of the Cork footballers under John Cleary and was still there into 2024. The model on this page pins Killannin's church and Rosscahill.
