Woodlawn and Attymon railway stations
Between Ballinasloe and Athenry the Dublin to Galway line stops at two villages most passengers never notice. Woodlawn, west of Ballinasloe, has a waiting room, a level crossing and a free car park; Attymon, further west, is the smallest station on the line, a single platform with two shelters where the branch to Loughrea once turned off. Both are on the intercity service, and both have fought for more trains.

Woodlawn
The station opened on 1 August 1858 and closed to goods on 2 June 1978. It has an accessible waiting room and toilet, a ticket machine at the platform entrance and a car park that is free. All intercity trains between Galway and Dublin call, about every two hours and hourly at peak; for Westport you change at Athlone, for Limerick and Ennis at Athenry. There is no scheduled bus. On 26 April 2011 some two hundred local people protested at the station, asking Iarnród Éireann to let a morning Galway to Dublin train stop.
Attymon
Attymon Junction opened on 1 December 1890 to join the main line to the Loughrea branch, with three platforms in use; the branch closed in 1975 and the link was removed, and the old footbridge now serves a Dublin commuter station. Today it is one platform, two shelters, a boarded-up building used by the maintenance crew, a small free car park and a ticket machine, and residents have asked repeatedly for more trains to stop. The model on this page pins Ballinasloe's station and St Michael's; the Ballinasloe train station guide covers the main service.
