    Castle Road · 456 m west of the centre

    The Clanricarde tower house of about the fifteenth century at the head of the inlet, once the home of the sailor Bill King.

    The thirteenth-century ruin whose north wall is part of the graveyard enclosure, with a Celtic cross dated 1661 and the sisters' plot.

Things to do

Hurling and football

Oranmore-Maree, county senior champions in 1933 and All-Ireland intermediate club champions in 2019, fields hurling, football and camogie teams; Naomh Mhuire takes the girls from under-10 to junior.

Soccer

Maree/Oranmore Soccer Club, founded in 1989, reached the Connacht Cup final in 2024 and won four Galway under-21 premier league titles between 2021 and 2024.

Golf and sailing

Galway Bay Golf Resort at Renville has been named the best resort in Connacht ten times; Galway Bay Sailing Club is based beside it. Badminton, basketball and judo clubs and a Sunday junior parkrun make up the rest.
