Calasanctius College
On 23 May 1861 four Presentation Sisters came out from the convent in Galway to found a new one in Oranmore, at the request of Bishop John McEvilly. Their first home was a building the village called the Hotel, and an outbuilding of it was soon a school. In July 1869 they moved into the house of the parish priest, Fr R. Quinn, bought by the order for 600 pounds. Calasanctius College, the secondary school that serves Oranmore and the villages around it, descends from that convent school.
