Player and manager

At IT Tralee he was part of the Sigerson Cup team of 1997. His finest moment in the International Rules came in 2004, when he captained Ireland to a 132-82 win over Australia, scoring a goal worth six points and an over worth three in the first test. In 2020 the Irish Independent placed him sixteenth in its list of the top twenty footballers in Ireland of the past fifty years. Appointed Galway under-20 manager in November 2018, he won a Connacht title, then replaced his old team-mate Kevin Walsh as senior manager in 2019 during the dispute over the Supermac's sponsorship, saying his aim was an All-Ireland; he stepped down in 2026. Off the field he plays darts and snooker. The model on this page pins Tuam Stadium and the college.
