St Mary's College, Galway

The granite and limestone building of 1912 on the west side of the city, faced with the two stones of the county's geology, opened as the junior seminary of the Diocese of Galway, where boys who might become priests were educated. St Mary's stopped taking boarders in 1999, celebrated its centenary in 2012 with about 400 pupils, and in September 2021 joined with Our Lady's College to become Coláiste Muire Máthair, a co-educational school of more than a thousand.
